Two centuries after the people of Midley celebrated the completion of their stone church, the building is left to ruin. The curate’s sermons go unheard and local people take from the church but give nothing in return.

Three sisters – innocent Lucy, spiteful Kitty and practical Mary – share their stories, revealing their links with the lonely church.

For someone, Midley offers sanctuary. While he stays there, no one else dare go near.
