Join me in this historical setting and learn about the church in Tudor times while creating characters who will react to the information I give you. The writing will be fun and relaxed. No one will be expected to write without plenty of information and writing prompts. The session includes time sharing and discussing information. Time spent making a character sheet and four writing exercises (10-20 minutes each). There is parking, a toilet and kitchen. Drinks and snacks are provided. Please bring a packed lunch. The words didn't come easily: his lips only knew prayer, his tongue only knew to move in the gentle rhythm of the psalms. “There's nothing to speak of,” Brother Halig replied. “It is as bleak as one could imagine and will serve our purpose well.” The year is 680AD and areas of dry land are rising from the marsh. No man would consider settling permanently in such an unforgiving place. However, for a few days a year the Sandtun comes alive with traders who await boats from Francia. Old friends meet at the tented camp and join with others coming from inland to sell their wares. As friendships are made and hatred brews, four monks descend the Shipway track carrying their precious secret.

Pray for your family and the town. "Pray for Romney?" "Aye, the town. Cinque port, sunk port. That's what I hear over and over. It rings in my ears and fills me with terror." "It makes no sense to me," Matilda stated. "But I'll pray nonetheless. There's a storm brewing, and damage will be done before the night has passed." The year is 1287, and yet another storm has hit the Kent coast. The town of Romney is under threat, and its people battle to save their homes and livelihoods. A travelling monk, whose quest is to record the lives of people living in coastal towns, sets out to watch the storm from the church tower. From his vantage point, the monk believes he can see all that happens in Romney that night. But as the storm ravages the town and its fortunes are changed forever, what didn't the monk see?
